Operation Cool Shade, an initiative by Mohave Electric Cooperative, Inc., is designed to enhance both the aesthetic and energy efficiency of residential landscapes. By encouraging the planting of shade trees, the program aims to reduce home cooling costs by up to 20% within a few years. These trees not only contribute to lower temperatures around homes but also support environmental sustainability by reducing the need for energy production. Additionally, they aid in preventing soil erosion. This program is endorsed by the Arizona Corporation Commission and benefits from a surcharge on member bills to facilitate affordable tree sales and distribution.
