California Family Foods operates a state-of-the-art rice drying and storage complex nestled just north of Arbuckle, California. Initially established in 1982 through a collaborative effort of prominent Colusa County farm families, the facility has undergone several expansions to meet evolving market demands. Today, boasting a vast storage capacity of 2,000,000 cwt for two distinct varieties of medium grain rice, the complex features four Shanzer column dryers capable of processing 6,400 cwt/hour. With four receiving pits, two truck scales, and an offload capacity of 20 truckloads per hour, the facility ensures efficient handling and turnaround during harvest seasons. Additionally, since 2001, California Family Foods has leased the Zumwalt drying and storage facility in nearby Colusa, adding 495,921 cwt to their storage capacity and providing convenient access for growers on the East side of Colusa County.
